Project Construction Manager

We currently have solar projects under active development and construction ranging from 240 kW to 160 MW. Our work includes solar energy generation, battery energy storage, fuel generators for islanded microgrids, peak load shaving and emergency backup power, building energy efficiency measures, and offsite decarbonization strategies (carbon trading and VPPAs) to help our commercial and industrial customers save energy, improve business financial returns and become more sustainable.

In this role, you will manage multiple projects from contract award through post-construction activities. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in supervising and managing a variety of commercial-industrial solar projects and gets the job done, on time and on budget.

COMPENSATION

QUALIFICATIONS
  • NABCEP solar photovoltaic installer certification, or state certification as an electrical or solar contractor.

  • 5+ years of progressive installation and construction project management experience in commercial-industrial solar and/or battery energy storage projects.

  • Familiarity with project cost estimating and budget management.
WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Establish project schedules with adequate milestones for regular progress measurement.

  • Support our installation contractors to solve construction issues and improve performance. Identify and resolve potential issues in a timely fashion.

  • Manage all project costs, tracking and updating actual costs versus budget throughout the project.

  • Spend substantial time at project sites during construction, serving as the customer’s and installing contractor’s primary point of contact.

  • Coordinate equipment deliveries with customers, installation contractors and your team.

  • Advise the development team on project technical aspects, value engineering and construction feasibility issues.

  • Work with legal to prepare and negotiate customer change orders.

  • Communicate any project cost overruns or contractor staffing issues to our headquarters immediately.

  • Maintain robust communications with onsite customer representative.

  • Complete daily construction progress reports.

  • Setup project tasks and milestones in our project management software.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor and building construction laws, codes and regulations.

  • Manage installation contractor schedule performance, safety compliance, adherence to specifications and quality assurance, from permitting through commissioning.

  • Execute plans for coordinating field inspections and completing punch lists.

  • Solid verbal and written technical communication skills.

  • Familiarity with Gantt charts.

  • Ability to create and execute realistic project development, construction and delivery schedules.

  • Contract and change order negotiation skill that achieves project cost targets while building and maintaining rapport with vendors and contractors.

  • Ability to prepare and write accurate reports and email replies, with attention to customer goals and needs.

  • Excellent adherence to schedule and collaborative problem-solving skills to maintain budget, schedule, and customer satisfaction.

  • Good fundamental knowledge of general construction methods.
